Veneers or braces?

I’ve had a bit of an alignment problem with my teeth for a while and I’ve finally decided to get it fixed with veneers, but when I got to the dentist I was informed that veneers would not be the best options because I have a cross bite (the canine tooth on the bottom row overlaps with one of the tooth in the front row),she said if I got veneers it would get dislodged/crack or break when I bite and this would be a problem cause veneers can’t be replaced. I was wondering what other cosmetic surgery can be done to fix this problem, because the only other options she gave me were to get braces and I am not really interested in that, I think I am too old for that. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem with the cross bite?

First of all you are never too old for braces! If you want nice teeth you are clearly not too old ;) Secondly there are alternate options to all that metal. You could get invisaline (but I'm not sure if that is available for that severe of a crossbite, idk if it is that bad but you made it sound pretty pronounced) I see older people with them more and more these days (mostly women) Don't get veneers if they are going to break, plus fixing your teeth with braces is forever and veneers need update after like 10 years or so. Which is annoying. But do what makes you happy! If cracked veneers would be what makes you that way...=P I am not much help with surgery options, but that seems a little extreme when you could just get braces...which are not that bad. I should know I had them for like 4 years.

Reply:Veneers are for closing gaps. They can not correct a cross bite. In your case braces should be used.
Reply:You are never too old for braces. People in their 30's, 40's, and 50's have them nowadays. But since you're not interested in that, invisalign may be the way to go. They're clear braces and they're not noticeable. The only person that will notice is you and whoever you tell. Veneers can also run up quite a bill. I've heard $2,000 per tooth. I'd rather get the braces. You're better off getting invisalign or braces. Good luck!
Reply:your best option would definately be braces, if you go with veneers and have alignment problems, guess what, you can cause too much pressure and loosen them over a period of time, they will pop off after the cement breaks loose.
