Veneers!questions?
The real veneers will and should look perfect. If not tell your dentist BEFORE he cements the final veneers. and ask for them to be changed, which will take another 2 weeks. (has to be resent to the dental lab for the changes)

You have temps because a dental lab has to make the final veneers, which takes 2-3 weeks.

You want them to take a few week so that they can and will look perfect. The veneers are a very complex procedure using porclean and a porclean oven to make them. The actual procedure is very precise and complex, but trust me you want it done this way and not done the same day.

Reply:They need to removed tooth structure from the front of your tooth to make room for the porcelain veneers. Be happy that you only have to wait two weeks for your veneers; at my office you have to wait a month! Sorry that you don't like your temporaries but they are only there for a short amount of time. Usually, the temps look a bit like your teeth before they were prepped for the veneers.
Reply:They have to be made by technicians in a dental laboratory. Remember the goo the dentist put in your mouth? This was to get an impression of your teeth so they could make an exact replica of your teeth for use in the lab. The "real" veneers are custom made, just for you, and this takes a while.

If you could just take some "off the rack" and glue them in, they'd be a lot cheaper.
Reply:I just got my veneers a week ago and was in my temps for 3 weeks. I really liked my temps and they did not cause any sensitivity or fear for them falling out! (keep in mind I am one of those VERY sensitive-teeth people). Honestly, the temps were better looking than my natural teeth so I was pretty happy with them......altho I did notice around week 2 that they seemed a little opaque (solid......not translucent.....such as plastic is). They put u in temps so u can adjust the temps as you want your veneers to be and then they take that mold of them and the mold is what the ceramiscist works from. VERY IMPORTANT and useful steps I think. And, when my veneers came in I did NOT like them and my doctor sent them back gladly to have the lab make another set. The second set now live in my mouth and I LOVE them :) They match my natural teeth EXACTLY it's quite amazing. Anyhow, hang in there......consider your temps 60% of what your veneers will be. And if the veneers don't look "right", SEND EM BACK!! Your dentist should be glad to do it :) Best of luck and congrats on your new beautiful veneers!
