Why veneers won't last?

I've seen from the internet and in here that people say it can last 10, 20 years or more depends if the person take good care of it.

So why they won't last? Is it after many years the veneers material worn down(so it chipped or break)? Or the cement between teeth and veneers not strong enough that after many years it will just pop out or fall off? Anyone know which case occurred the most that the veneers won't last or need to be replace?

Also regarding color, the internet said u can choose the color that match your teeth but I like to know how they do the color? Do they just paint it on the veneers so it match? If I choose it wrong, then can I ask them to change it during the last appointment?

I've chipped teeth and if I do veneers then it will look maybe half or more than half will be veneers. Will it still be strong enough?

I hope someone will understand what I'm saying and can answer me.

Thank you.

Why veneers won't last?
There is no a dental restoration that last a life time, is a prosthetic and the mouth contains a lot of bacteria and a lot chemical changes happen there that over time it will decrease the durability of the dental prosthetic.

However, having a good oral hygiene elongates the life of the veneer in this case.

The veeners are made at a dental laboratory, the dentist has to choose a correct shade (shade guide) for your teeth, usually the dentist chooses the color and then its sent to the lab to be made. You can not change the color, that is why make sure you are comfortable with it the day of your appointment.( Dentist usually choose the best color following the shade of your other teeth).

Veneers usually cover the tooth giving it a very natural appearance, they are made of porcelain most of the time and it looks so real ,they look very good but is up to you to take care of them, keep your cleaning appointments every 6 months so they can keep track of them and improve you oral hygiene at home.

Hope it helps!
Reply:Venner does not change the color, the natural tooth does. Depending on your age, and your habbits teeth stain and if you had veneers done you will need to keep the color checked periodicly and maybe whiten the teeth for them to match the veneers.
