Is it possible 2 get veneers at my local dentist?

when i was a child i was on medication that discoloured my teeth, im now 22 and very paranoid about them and im getting very depressed about it! so can you get veneers on the NHS and pay them back through a payment plan?

im also currently pregnant so i dont know if this could affect it or not. im wanting to get this done soon as possible but i just dont have the cash.

It depends on how sympathetic your dentist is to your plight. Veneers are sometime done on the NHS, but it's quite unusual. Still, there is no harm in asking and it may be that he/she will be able to point you in the direction of someone who can carry out the proceedure if it's not their own field.

As for the pregnancy, I'm afraid I do not know. That's something else you need to ask your dentist about directly.
Reply:yes just talk to your dentist
Reply:The medication you had was probably tetracycline. This drug deposits in growing teeth and bones and is permanent in the teeth.

I have tried to place veneers over tetracycline stained teeth but the results are usually not satisfactory. The veneers are fairly thin and so much of the underlying colour shows through. Unfortunately, as the enamel is trimmed away, the tooth actually appears darker.

It may be better to just get the teeth crowned if the staining is severe and is psychologically damaging. Crowning the teeth places an opaque layer over the tooth and so the underlying colour is completely masked.

You may ask Why would they give a drug that would permanently stain the teeth? Well, the choice at the time was probably permanently stained teeth or a permanently dead child.
Reply:if you are pregnant your treatment is free as long as you take proof with you since the new regulations a lot of dentists wont do them but there is nothing in the rules saying they cant the only thing i would say is wait till after you have had the baby your treatment is still free for 1 year after the birth of your child, if you want the best looking veneers i would go private as they look more natural, a lot of dentists now do payment plans or look into the hsa they are the best ones to go for
