What would I look like with veneers?

I don't want to get braces. Has anyone ever gone through the process to get veneers? Is it time consuming? Very painful? Expensive? Not the results you hoped for? Or was it the best thing you ever did?

What would I look like with veneers?
It is not a good alternative to braces. Braces realign your teeth to actually be straight, which is good because then flossing easier and the health of your gums and such can be more easily cared for. Veneers is exactly what it says. it is a veneer, meaning covering over. they can help your teeth look straighter and whiter, but your teeth will still be crooked, difficult to floss, and veneers have a reputation of popping off and needing to be recemented, which is extra cost. the reason they pop off is because a veneer only goes around the sides and front of the tooth, they don't hold on all the way like crown. Veneers are strictly cosmetic, so insurance will most likely not cover. Plus, veneers are far more expensive than braces. Veneers cost about $700 per tooth. Plus, you could be cutting away at enamel that is healthy. The dentists I have worked for constantly preech that original is best. I say just put up with wearing braces for a while. Most people commend people for being brave and smart for getting braces, because you care for your oral health! GOOD LUCK!
Reply:Braces are to straighten teeth or realign them. Veneers are to improve look of teeth cosmetically. Veneers are time consuming, but not painful. Expensive, too.
Reply:I think they give you anesthetic when you have them done. I called a dentist office a few days ago inquiring, and they told me they'd give anesthetic to get veneers in their office. Yes, I think they are expensive but probably worth it. I might get them on the bottom because I used to wear braces and one tooth shifted a little bit and veeners would make it look perfectly straight again.
