What is the best way to refinish (veneers, new doors, and drawer fronts) kitchen cabinets?

We have laminate cabinets and want to refinish with veneers, new doors, and drawer fronts. Any suggestions and/or resources?

What is the best way to refinish (veneers, new doors, and drawer fronts) kitchen cabinets?
If you don't have the tools and a shop, you might consider just going with all new cabinetry. I couldn't imagine trying to clamp up new veneers with even pressure on the surfaces while the cabinets were/are still in place, not to mention the stripping of old veneers and finish. And what type of veneer are you going to put back on? Wood? Laminate? Are your cabinets plywood or particle board? If they are particle board you can just throw them away, because trying to take the old laminate off of them will just destroy the particle board, and you don't want particle board cabs anyway If money is an issue, try saving the cabs, and get all new paint-grade doors and drawer fronts and paint them, they wil cost a lot less. Will your drawers or doors have any detail, or wil they be flat all around? I might be able to give more advice, but I would need to know more about existing cabs, and what type of doors/drawers you intend to put on. Email me if you want.
Reply:The best way is to call a pro. If you want it done right.
Reply:hopefully your cabinets have facing. usually the boxes are made of plywood or particleboard and the facing is attached to them with nails/glue.

The doors are attached with hinges to the facing. The drawers are mounted to the boxes and facing.

First, figure out what you have. If you have facing, fine. Remove the drawers and hardware. Remove the drawer fronts from the drawers. Figure out if you can re-use the drawer hardware (rollers, etc.) or if you need to get new hardware. Remove the doors and hinges. Maybe you want to re-use the hinges.

Now all you have is the boxes (carcases) and facing. Take the facing off. If you have plywood boxes, the facing should come off ok. If you have particleboard, half of the boxes may come off with the facing. Remember this when you buy furniture in the future.

If your boxes are salvageable, install new facing on them, then hang your new doors on the facing. Put new drawer fronts on your drawers and reinstall them using the old hardware or the new hardware of your choice.

If your boxes aren't reuseable, unscrew them from the walls and start over.

If you need parts, such as facing, doors, and drawer fronts, and all cabinet boxes as well as far as that goes, look on the internet for cabinet doors, facing, drawers, etc. There are a lot of companies which supply parts as per your specs.
