I can't decide whether or not i should get veneers, help!!?

ok, so i'm 12 years old, i have this problem, one of the two front teeth is missing (don't ask why lol), and the small one next to the one that's missing is gonna be filled in to make it about the same size of the big front one. my normal dentist suggests i should get veneers, she said they cost a lot, like $700-1000 and my mom doesn't want me to get them bcuz she says i don't need them, nobody is perfect and if i get them she's not buying me anything like clothes, shoes, etc. it sucks, i love shopping and idk wat 2 do. plz tell me what u suggest i should do, get veneers or not. and if u know about veneers tell me about them, like thir advantages and disadvanteages. i can't decide because my mom's not giving me money for shopping for about a year *tears*

Veneer's are cheaper than an implant, but less permanent. Since you're only 12 I suggest you ask your mom if you could see an orthodontist about getting either braces or a retainer with a fake front tooth after you get the other one "filled" in. After that, just try and work with your mom about saving money for either veneers or a permanent implant.

Reply:jeez with the mom. i only have enough money to go shopping for strictly mandatory garments about once a year anyways so i can't really imagine your pain. just make the choice (attractive teeth vs attractive clothes)
Reply:A veneer goes on an existing tooth so if you are wanting to replace a missing one that is not an option. Also, because of your age I would recommend doing something temporary until you are 18 and sure your teeth are done growing. Maybe a second opinion with another DDS could give you a few more options.
