I have had veneers on my top front 4 teeth for the past 14 years. I want them removed.?

After all these years I still can't get used to them. To me they look like falsers! Can my dentist remove them. They have recently gone private so would I have to pay and how much would it cost? Also, since the dentist removed the outer enamel on my teeth before he put the veneers on would they be ok?

i wouldn't have then removed as you said the dentist had to take some of the enamel away and by doing this the teeth will hurt you when you have them taken off. you can have new ones put on if they are that bad. if you do have then taken off then you will need white filling (comp) to go on the top and this is done by the dentist.

sometime the dentist can do a good job but only sometimes.

and if this is done the filling is more likely to break away and you will have to go up they some many times to have it repaired and this is don't good for your teeth!!!

things with veneers have got better now and they do look good but you are talk around about £200 for each one.

if it down to you but as a dental nurse you have to know that you are getting yourself in for.

you need to thing about the after care, cost. if it don't work then you are looking at doing more work and the more you do to a tooth the more likely that the tooth/ teeth will dice.

Reply:cant remove them ....dont you remember how the denist filed down your teeth almost to a toothpick ??

just go to a bar and get in a fight with biggest dude there and tell him to aim for your teeth.
Reply:I would stick with it,it will cost you mega bucks to remove %26amp; then have to pay for false ones anyway, whats the difference going to be? You broke %26amp; maybe a lot of discomfort!

Reply:Are these porcelain or composite? Once you have porcelain veneers you are pretty much stuck with them forever, as enamel is removed to make room for the porcelain. If composite is used [made in your mouth while you sit there] there's a possibility that the composite can be polished off and your natural tooth left. Ask your doc.
Reply:I had some veneers put on my front teeth 20 years ago and have just had them replaced (materials are much better and more realistic than they were then). If you had veneers done the front of your own teeth would have been scuffed up to accept the veneer. It wasn't hard getting my old ones off. My dentist made up some "test" teeth to make sure I was happy with the end result. He also said that if I wasn't happy we would have them re-done until I was. You will never be able to go back to your own teeth only but I'm sure a good dentist would make you feel more comfortable with your smile.
Reply:You could have the veneers replaced, with whiter, more attractive ones But unfortunately the teeth were prepared to fit the veneers so you cannot go back to the originl teeth
