A question about veneers! What are they like?

I won't go into detail on why, but when I'm 17 I'm getting veneers. My questions is, what exactly is the process of getting it done? What does it feel like (And don't try to tone it down so I don't get 'scared' please :D )?

veneers are half ceramic crowns. Why do you need it, did you chip your teeth or some thing?
Reply:hmm, expensive :)
Reply:Veneers are porcelain covers that go over the front of your existing teeth.

The downside is your teeth have to have the surface ground down slightly then an impression is taken and the veneers made to measure so they fit...this takes about a week so you have not the best looking teeth for that week.

Once they are fitted though they look pretty good.

My husband has two due to an accident in his youth that damaged the enamel on his natural teeth.....his first set lasted 10 years and only failed because he damaged one slightly and liquid was able to get behind the veneer and loosen the glue, so it came away.

They are bonded by some special adhesive that is activated by ultra-violet light that the dentist uses.

He simply had them both changed and carried on as before.

He tells me they felt strange for a few days, much like you do when you have a new filling but after that it seems like they always felt like that and everything is fine.

I guess it all depends why you are having them done....if you have damage then it's worth it as they do look better.

My husband looks fine and if you didn't know then you would never know.

When he damaged them he was just unlucky.....it could have happened to natural teeth surface or not at all.
