Question about Veneers?

Do you have to have good teeth to get them?

I have alot of fillings that I need to get and I was wondering if I just got veneers if that would also fix my problems with my teeth?

Question about Veneers?
The answer given by Laney is so inaccurate it is laughable...

I am a dentist. Decay always needs to be removed first and restored with a filling, or if very large, a crown. A veneer will only cover the front part of the tooth. Some veneers can be done without any tooth preparation (Lumineers), but many times the front part of the tooth is shaved down. A crown requires the tooth to be prepared much more agressively, all around. I have additional info on my website: www.newtowndental.com, or you can go to www.ada.org.

Good luck
Reply:When you get veneers they saw your teeth down to little niblets so no it wouldn't interfere because the part that is unhealthy will be saw'd off.

Dr. Harris that's what they show on extreme make over that they saw the entire tooth down to a nub, so why would you bother to repair if your just gonna saw the sucker's down?
Reply:What Dr. Harry said is right. You'll have to fix the cavities first. I have veneers and they fix chipped, discolored, gapped, teeth. But not the ideal option to fix cavites. They also have white fillings for cavities if you are concerned about how it silver ones look. Veneers can range from $500-$1500 each, depending on where you are. And they are cosmetic. I would fix those cavities first before they get any bigger. Good luck!
