I went to a bad dentist and got veneers. I didn't know a dentist would do such a thing, but while I was numbed and trusting, he proceeded to grind my healthy teeth down to half size, and now I have veneers on deep dentin. They're horrible. Well, my question is, even though I floss twice a day and brush immediately after eating, will I probably lose my teeth early? Thanks!
Crazy dentist and bad veneers... will I lose my teeth?
That is how teeth are prepped for veneers. If you just added the veneers to your teeth without "grinding" them down, then you would have very bulky teeth.
Reply:That answer is not correct, in fact the proper way to prep teeth for veneers is to stay well within the enamel. Veneers bonded to dentin do not last very long. The bond looses 50% of its strength in a couple years, and in 3 - 5 years they will likely have be replaced with caps. Report It
Reply:It is very sad, and it is a dental scam to prep teeth this much. It's done because it requires a less skillful dentist and a less skillful lab, but the results are injurous to the patient. Report It
Reply:MEISHA,
I'M SORRY TO HEAR YOU HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A DENTIST. CHANCES ARE YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOUR TEETH.
LUMINEERS ARE A TYPE OF VENEERS THAT REQUIRE NO GRINDING.
