I got 4 veneers need replacing and havent got the £4000 to do it. Just wondering if nhs dentists do it cheaper. Has anyone had veneers done on the nhs and how much a thooth was it.
I have 4 veneers on my front teeth and need them replacing but cant afford it, can i pay nhs dentist to do it?
Whether you can have your veneers replaced on the NHS depends on why they need replacing. The NHS provides only dental treatment which is necessary to secure and maintain your oral health. Therefore if the veneers need replacing simply because they no longer look as nice as they did, you definitely won't get them on the NHS. Even for other reasons, true clinical need is a grey area.
If you can find an NHS dentist who is willing to replace the veneers, the cost would be £194 for as many as clinically need replacing - this may not be all four. You may have to wait awhile before the dentist can justify doing the others, and then pay again, or you may have to have some replaced privately.
Also, be warned that the materials and workmanship that can be afforded by the NHS fee (the veneers are made of porcelain by a technician in a laboratory) are often no where near as good as that which can be afforded by a private fee. The end result may therefore be less aesthetically good if done on the NHS.
£4000 sounds extremely expensive for 4 private veneers though. I personally currently charge around £200 per tooth for private veneers and get excellent cosmetic finishes. Your best bet may simply be to look around for a dentist who will give you a much more reasonable quote for doing the work privately.
Reply:What the hell? Where do you go Harley Street I doubt even they would charge that much for four veneers. There anything from 250-500pound an that would only for £2000 for the most expensive. I am guessing you need more treatment than just veneers. Get your veneers done at the place you got them done last an then go NHS to get whatever else needs done as they only charge £42 a filling.
Reply:Veneers ARE available on the NHS, BUT.... alot of dentists charge privately. On the NHS they roughly cost £198.00 in total for all four. But privately ( at my practice ) they start from £500.00 to £1000.00 each. Your best bet is to ring around. Good luck, it will be hard to find one.
Reply:You would be very lucky to get a dentist to do veneers for you on the NHS especial 4 the cost from the lab wouldd be more than what you woul pay and then that leaves the dentist out of pocket the best thing you could do is shop around I have a good dentist his name is Kian Nikdel he works in North London have a look at there Web Site www.denchic.com
Reply:Wow that's steep, they are available on the NHS and will cost you £194 for all four!
My dentist makes Composite veneers, they are made from the same material used for white fillings and are just as good, and the best thing about these chair side veneers are if you chip a piece off you only have to come back to the surgery and have the material replaced, porcelain veneers require the whole thing to be remade from scratch!
