For those who have veneers: when you go to clubs, do people ask why your teeth don't "glow"?

I just got veneers (4 front teeth) and they are really fantastic. However, I happened to go to a club the other night and catch my smile in a mirror. Due to the black lights all throughout the club, the bathroom flouresces as well and my veneers looked less "glowy" than all the rest. Not too too bad, but I noticed. Now I'm a bit self-aware. Has anyone who has veneers noticed this and if so, has anyone ever asked the dreaded question......."what's wrong with your teeth? or "are your teeth real"?

I do not have veneers, but as a dentist, I am well aware of this problem. SOME porcelains fluoresce and some don't. You got one that doesn't.

Your next question will be what to do about it. My answer would be to ask your dentist what he thinks. I DOUBT you could get them remade for free, but you might get a slight discount. Every bit of the work has to be done over again, unless you got REALLY lucky and your models are still in good shape.
Reply:That's really interesting. I never thought of it. I'm sure they're not TOO different from other people's glow. I wouldn't worry about it.
Reply:IF someone asks, just tell em the truth.

It's just teeth, are they better looking than what you had before? I assume you had a reason to get them besides vanity.

Or you could always just say, "oh, it's from some dental work I had done a long time ago when I was younger. Some sort of infection or something. The dentist fixed it up, but they just don't look the same in this light. I don't have a clue what he did."
Reply:Interesting indeed, I'm a Dental Assistant and i have never heard of this. I will however, ask the docs tomorrow and post what they say, tomorrow... if you want, that is!
