Has anyone gotten porcelain veneers?

and if so....did your temporaries look a lot worse than the permanent ones...the reason i am asking is because my temps are hideous and big..i want to know if the actual veneers are smaller than the temps and shaped different

Of course, the permanent veneers will be different. That is why you are doing it. Temporaries often have features that you had before you started. They look like they are not right often because the dentist does not want the tissues to change before the permanent ones get on. You kind of have to understand how tissues react. The veneers are thin and fragile until they get on and have something to support them. Most of the time they look great. Occasionally, something goes wrong. It could happen.

If he had a diagnostic wax up done, and that wax up is what the temporaries were made from, then yes the veneers might be made to that very same shape. Since the lab will then use the wax up as a guide for making the permanent veneers. You need to speak with your dentist and tell him your concerns before the lab starts making the veneers.


By the way, if the dentist reduces the temporaries down to where you are sufficiently happy with their shape, the placement of the biting or incisal edge, etc, then he can get an impression of that and send that to the lab so the veneers can be made to that proper shape.


Not telling the dentist you are unhappy with the shape will result in the lab making veneers that will likely not please you and ultimately the veneers will have to be redone.
Reply:Hey, I have permenant porcelain veneers and mine look great. They arent too big and they even matched them with my other teeth colour. They last for about 10 years. They cost a fortune but are worth it since mine are right at the front of my mouth. They should be smaller and made to look just like any other tooth. Even your temps should look like this, maybe try another dentist?
