Can you do a root canal on a porcelain veneers?
last yr i had porcelain veneers put on my front teeth, well now one has abscessed and i need a root canal. Can they reuse the veneer or will i have to get a new one? they are $600 EACH i cant see having to buy a brand new one? i also think the dentist is at fault for not taking care of the cavity before putting the veneer on last yr.

A rootcanal on an anterior tooth is done through the back of the tooth. The only way the veneer would need to be replaced is if there was decay or leakage around any of the margins of the veneer and then they may look at doing a crown verses a veneer because the strength of the tooth has been compromised.

Reply:Since a veneer just goes on the front of your tooth kind of like an artificial fingernail, they should be able to open the tooth by making a small hole in the back of the tooth. They'll do the root canal and seal up the hole with a tooth coloured filling... not even touching your veneer.

I'm 14 and will probably need veneers for my two front teeth and maybe a few more, once I'm finished with my braces.

Can i get veneers/hollywood smile at 16?
Im 15, with an overjet and a gap in my front teeth. Ive tried the braces but didnt pull my weight unfortunately and wear them as much as the orthadontics was asking me to. I cant smile because my self esteem is extremelly low. I stop myself from talking properly with strangers in case they see my teeth. Would i be able to get a hollywood smile/veneers when im 16? im willing to do anything to get a perfect smile. I just want to have confidence and be able to smile. Thanks

If you can't do follow up with your orthodontist then you will not acheive the extra oral hygein to maintain the veneers, also veneers will need to be replaced every 2 to 5 years.. by the age of 40 you will lose your teeth.
Do orthodontic treatment and when you finish do bleaching (whitining) and you will look great.
Reply:Aren't you still growing at 16? meaning if you get veneers over time they will have to be redone because your teeth will have grown. I have a friend whose sister had veneers and had to have them replaced because there was this awful space between them and her gum and it became all black..yuk yuk yuk
get invisiline braces
Reply:people with overjets usually need jaw surgery to move ur lower and sometimes the upper jaw foward. im surprised ur dentist didnt suggest it to u. mine did, because i have the same problem as u. im getting braces in january, then after a year i have to have my jaw moved forward, then wear braces again for a year to a year and a half. go to ur ortho and ask about surgery.
Reply:Veneers in fact can accomplish what you want to for now.However,having said that,depending on a multitude of factors,they are definitely not the first choice for correcting some of your concerns about your smile.I've treated Hollywood actors performers and models whose smiles would be extremely undesirable for their professional life.In their real life off stage they were able to ignore their physical differences and carry on confidently in spite of them. After all you did not make you,G-D did.
Reply:You seem to be in much hurry which is not good. As you say you can do anything, better start with your orthodontic treatment. If you can afford, go for Invisalign. You may think of veneers only after the orthodontic treatment is over and the problems related to wisdom teeth (which I suppose have not yet erupted) are also resolved. Smile generating beauty from within!

It is not 1000 dollars a tooth. I have four empress veneers and it cost me about 400 per tooth. Keep in mind that they have to grind your teeth down to put them on so it's permanent. If I had known that beforehand I might not have gotten it done. But I had a crack in one tooth so I had to do it. I'm very happy with them and get complements on my smile all the time. If you do end up getting them, don't eat sunflower seeds or crunchy foods for about 6 months. And try to use your unveneered teeth to bite down on foods as much as possible.
